Christchurch Heritage Festival – Watch the Wall talks
On Tuesday 25th October and Friday 28th October Julie Ratcliffe will present a free talk for children and families, A Smuggler’s Child. The talk is part of the Christchurch Heritage Festival 2016 – Watch the Wall Smugglers!
If you lived in 1784, at the time of the Battle of Mudeford, the chances are that your family would have known smugglers – or even been smugglers themselves! Find out why and what life was like at the time in a talk for children and families by local children’s author J. A. Ratcliffe. The talk will take place in the historic St Michael’s Loft, Christchurch Priory Church, once the local grammar school and from where smugglers could be seen at their work.
The talk will take place in St Michael’s loft, and where Smugglers’ Town Mysteries character Danny Clarke attended school. Note: St Michael’s Loft is reached via 75 steps. The entrance is in the North Quire Aisle.
