IMG_5693Julie was thrilled to be invited to be guest author at the BOSCARS 2015, the book ‘Oscars’. The event is a highlight in the year for young members of Bournemouth Libraries’ Chatterbooks groups. The event is part of the Reading Agency’s promotion of reading.

The Boscars Book Awards has been running for 11 years in Bournemouth and made up of 11 children’s reading groups from nine libraries, comprising 70 children from ages 8 to 11 years.

The ceremony was attended by 48 readers plus their families. It was an occasion to dress up and the children were called, Oscars-style,  to open a gold envelope and announce the winners  from their ballot of the selected books read during the year. After this Julie gave a 30-minute talk on what inspired her to write her books, including readings. Following the talk she presented certificates to the children.

After the ceremony Julie was thrilled to chat to the young people and sign copies of her books.
